Method / a selected-fee comparison

A clear calculation.
A limited promise.

This calculator compares an added payment fee with a subscription. It is not a full software bill, a savings guarantee or a cross-vendor ranking.

STEP 1

Isolate the fee

Multiply eligible monthly payments by active payment months, then by the added fee rate.

STEP 2

Count the subscription

Multiply your confirmed monthly subscription price by the number of billed months.

STEP 3

Compare, then check fit

Subtract subscription cost from the free-plan added fee. Check required features and remaining costs separately.

An example, not your quote

Using $34.99 per billed month, a 1% added fee, 12 active months and 12 billed months: $3,499 in eligible payments per active month produces $419.88 in annual added fees. The subscription also totals $419.88. That is a tie.

With six active months but 12 billed months, the same subscription requires $6,998 in eligible payments per active month to break even. Seasonal receipts change the arithmetic; they do not establish a cancellation right.

Break-even per active month = subscription cost ÷ fee rate ÷ active months. At a zero fee rate there is no payment-volume break-even. The calculator treats differences within $1 per year as roughly even.

What remains outside the result

Processor fees, taxes, add-ons, refunds, chargebacks and other unquoted costs are excluded. They cancel out only when the terms are identical. This tool assigns no dollar value to saved time and no upgrade tier from crew count.

Practical questions

Can I stay on the free plan?

Yes, if its features meet your needs. A workflow with no payments subject to the added fee has no added fee in this model. Software and payment methods can still have other costs.

Why not enter my total revenue?

Only payments subject to the added fee belong in eligible volume. Do not include cash, checks or direct Zelle when no added platform fee applies. ACH, wallet and tip applicability remains unconfirmed in the saved evidence.

Does paying remove every processing fee?

No. The evidence supports a waiver of the added Yardbook fee on paid Business and Enterprise. Separate processor fees remain.

Can I subscribe only during mowing season?

The official Terms (archived April 18, 2026) describe monthly renewal and cancellation before the next period, no refunds and benefits through the paid period. Package commitments still apply. Seasonal pause, downgrade-to-free and reactivation are not expressly confirmed. Use 12 billed months unless your applicable terms establish otherwise.

Why must billed months cover active months?

The model assumes the fee is waived on every active month included in the paid comparison. It does not model extra fees during unsubscribed active months, so it refuses billed months below active months.

What if I need reminders or Quickbooks Sync?

The owner-captured pricing table lists automatic invoice reminders on Business and Quickbooks Sync on Enterprise. Confirm current eligibility and compatibility. A feature need can override a fee-only result.

Are inputs saved or sent anywhere?

No. Calculation happens in this page; there is no account, tracking script or input storage. Hosting may retain access logs. Source links open external sites with their own policies.

Is a Premium trial guaranteed?

No. The archived Terms say Yardbook may offer trials at its discretion. The October 23 pricing capture does not establish a currently available trial. The archived Terms also apply the added 1% fee to free-trial accounts.

Are subscription payments refunded?

The archived Terms say subscription payments are non-refundable and benefits continue through the paid period. Premium Package commitments can continue until the package term ends.

Can my subscription price change?

The archived Terms permit price changes and provide no price protection. Do not assume you can cancel and return at the same rate.

What if my account is unused for a year?

The archived Terms reserve the right to cancel accounts inactive for more than 12 months without prior notice. Confirm account and data handling before a long absence.
